When I am Lost- Writing Update #10

Hello Bookworms,
I am sort of in shock that I am already on week 10 of these weekly writing update #10. It is sort of mind blowing to me that this has been going on for almost four months. I am so glad that I started this blog after wanting to do it for almost a year. I feel like now I have opened myself to so much more knowledge and so many more opportunities in this communities. Thank you.

Today I wanted to talk to you about things that inspire me and help me as a writer. Some days no matter how much you want to write the words just refuse to form on the page in front of you. When these days hit, (They hit a lot for me in the editing phase... I am in the editing phase) these are a few of the things I turn to.
Reading:
Okay so this may seem basic but, it is true. When ever I have an issue with my writing I try to figure out where the issue lies. If it is just distraction, I try reading someone else's work to get an idea and keep going. The books on my reading list (More on that) normally reading a bit of one of these books help me back into my groove

Sometimes I need to read more about techneique in order to get going on with the story. Some of the books I have are:
  • Characters & Viewpoint by Orson Scott Card
  • Writing Fantasy & Science Fiction by Orson Scott Card, Philip Athans, Jay Lake
I love the book on writing fantasy and sci- fi. It is so in depth and touches on everything you may ever need to think of from languages to world building and plot. One of the things I like so much about it is how accessible it is. It isn't like an educational book that lectures you but jokes around with you. There has definitely been days I just read this for the fun and the way it makes me think. And that my friends is what I need.

Youtube

Going on the youtubes and listening to friends talk about books and writing. After watching a few of these youtubers I am able to get back on my groove.
Writers on youtube I like to watch, Click the name to go to their channel:
  • Rachael Stephan
  • Kristen Martin
  • Shaelin Writes
  • Vivien Reis
Book Bloggers I like to watch:
  • missmarreadsalot
  • Jesse the reader
  • Hailey in Bookland

Podcasts

I only listen to two book related podcasts right now but I listen to the constantly, going deep into their back log. These are The Creative Pen by Joanna Pen and The Dead Robots Society. Both of these podcasts talk about self publishing but also give advice on the actual writing process, and the business side of things that would be helpful for anyone looking to publish your work in the future. Listening to these podcasts slowly helps build up my knowledge of the industry and motivates me to one day join the ranks of published authors be that as an indie author or as a traditionally published author.

What do you do when you are down on your writing? Do any of these things also inspire you? Let me know how you motivate yourself to work your craft at:
