What Are ARC's?

Hello Bookworms,
Today I wanted to talk to you about something that you may see places that until this year I never really thought about. That is: What is an ARC?
An ARC is and Advanced Reader's Copy of a book. These are the books that authors or publishing houses will send out for review. This is how you see that books have reviews on Goodreads or Amazon, before the book has even come out. This is also how books get the little blurbs on the back of the book like:
"This book was so masterful it is the new Harry Potter..."
-John Smith
You know what I mean, pick up just about any book you own and look on the inside jacket, or on the back of the book and you will see all sorts of amazing things other people say about the books.
On Monday, you will see a review for the first book I was ever sent by an author to read. Now this author in particular was looking for people to review her work. But if someone isn't openly promoting that they need reviewers how do you go out and find ARC's?
  1. Have a way to assist the people that need the review. You will not be the person that will turn to if you don't have anything to offer to help the company with their marketing they will not turn to you. So if you have a larger platform you will have more chances to help. So I wouldn't say to expect to get books right away if just started a blog. But don't let that stop you.
  2. Reach out to publishers- while you might not get to much headway at the beginning but you can get your name out there and if you put up reviews on a continuous basis. Hence why I post a review every Monday.
  3. GIVEAWAYS- who doesn't love a good give away. So enter them all and you may get to get your hands on a book nice and early.
Now these are just a few ways to get your hands on books early. If you want more, just do a short google search and I am sure you can find more information on the idea!
