Important Until All the Stars are Found Update Hardcover Specific

12/23/2020

Dear Readers,
This is a long one, I have also released a video explaining everything. It is about 20 minutes long. I am sad I have to make this update. However, at this time, I feel that it is the best thing I can do to ensure you, the reader, receive the best product I can give you. I love being an Independent Author Publisher because I call all the shots in regards to my business. But it is not easy sometimes.
At this time, I believe it is in my best interest to delay the launch of the hardcover edition of Until All the Stars are Found. Again, this is specific to the Hardcover edition. Due to 2020, production and shipping delays are through the roof. If you have been considering ordering Until All the Stars Are Found, please don't let this dissuade you from ordering. The hardback will be available soon. If you are at all concerned, I would suggest ordering the Ebook.
For example, I ordered a proof or sample copy of UATSAF on Nov 18th. I knew there would be some delays due to the holidays, but the product did not ship until the 1st, and it got lost for over two weeks, meaning the book did not arrive at my door until Dec 21st, more than a month after ordering, bypassing one of my deadlines. Below, I will outline my initial publishing timeline compared to what it would need to be now to make sure the book arrived at your doorstep. **Hint** the product would be very rushed, and NOTHING could go wrong from here on out. Every single deadline would have to be met exactly with no buffer room.  I don't want this to seem like I am blaming anyone. 2020 has been difficult on every business in ways we don't expect. For example, I started planning my editing/ publication schedule back in early August, and most of the dates would have to be thrown out the window. This adjustment does favor those that ordered signed copies. However, it is also what I would need to do to make sure files were submitted with enough time for the printer.
Original Timeline
85 days until the FINAL deadline when files HAVE to be submitted (2/20)
Nov 18th- Ordered Proof
Nov 27th- Preorder goes live
12/1- Files sent to Editor
12-7-12/12 Proof expected
12/18- Any cover/ internal formatting edits need to be noted and submitted to the designer
1/5- Copy edits (grammar edits) received back from the editor
1/22- Complete copy edits and prep for proofreaders- send to said proofreaders. Order another proof to do a final physical edit.
I have a 14-day "Break" to step away before the Final edit
2/5 receive proof edits/notes/reviews back- Start FINAL EDIT
2/5- 2/10- Recieve final proof copy to check covers, internal formatting and ensure no visible mistakes
2/13 Upload final files to printer/ Upload to Netgalley for ARC reviews
2/17 After file acceptance, order author copies to fulfill preorders.
New Timeline
71 days until the FINAL deadline when files HAVE to be submitted (2/6)
It will take 30 days to print a book vs. 3-10 days, and shipping for me took three weeks. Meaning the final deadline needs to be moved up a lot.
Nov 18th- Ordered Proof
Nov 27th- Preorder goes live
12/1- Files sent to Editor
12-7-12/12 Proof expected
12/18- Any cover/ internal formatting edits need to be noted and submitted to the designer
RECEIVED 12/21 BEHIND
1/12- Copy edits (grammar edits) received back from the editor- the editor notified me that it would take a few days longer to make sure the book was up to snuff. It is a big book so of course, accepted.
1/18- Edits would need to be completed in a shorter time frame. Six days vs. seventeen days. Complete copy edits and prep for proofreaders- send to readers
Ten days "Break" to step away before the Final edit
1/28 receive proof edits/notes/reviews back- Start FINAL EDIT (TIME DOES NOT ALLOW FOR FINAL PROOF)
Proofreaders have ten days vs. two weeks.
2/3 Upload final files to printer/ Upload to Netgalley for ARC reviews
2/8 After file the acceptance order, author copies for preorders and pray they come faster than a month. To be signed and mailed out.
As you can see, this is a nightmare as far as planning.  The time that I had to work on UATSAF from copy edit to submission on final files went from 46 to 25 days, 10 of which would be when the book is with proofreaders...
This change is due to the current estimates I have for shipping and printing times and how soon I would need to submit the files.

So when is the hardcover book coming out?
I don't know for sure. I don't want to give a hard answer right now. I want to spend a bit more time after Christmas when we are **Hopefully** out of the shipping gridlock. I am currently looking at early April, but I promise it would not be further out than May. I plan to stick with the original timeline and determine when to release the hardback when I have more information.

What happens if I ordered a hardcover?
First of all, thank you for your order! I really appreciate it. If you have ordered a book directly from me, you should have received an email from me. If I don't have an email for you, I should have your address because you needed to give it to me for shipping. As such, you may be receiving a letter with information.
As I said at the beginning, the Ebook will not be affected. Ebooks are much, much easier to produce. As such, if you ordered a hardback, you WILL be receiving a free ebook on 3/6/2021. You paid to receive a product on 3/6/2021, and I will fulfill that promise to you. I am also looking into creating some sort of swag bag for you, including annotated chapters, bookmarks, etc. If you preordered a hardback, I need you to send me an email to scripturient101@gmail.com with the subject line PREORDER, and a photo of proof of purchase to be put on the list to receive the Ebook. This goes for everyone who has and will order the hardcover up to the time I determine the exact date, no matter what platform you ordered the hardback from.

I hope this makes sense. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out. If needed, I will make a follow-up video or post explaining any questions. Check out my stories as well, as I will be answering questions there if they come up. I sincerely apologize, but I hope you can understand. I know some people will be disappointed, but I feel like this is the best choice to make sure you get a good product. I could be completely wrong, and the shipping and printing times could drop in the new year, but at this time, I can't trust it.

Again please don't let this stop you from ordering. The book is coming. I am still very excited about it and can't wait to get it in your hands. It just will likely be a bit longer than intended.
