Today on #writingwednesday I wanted to talk breifly about building a reading list for inspiration. I like to listen to podcasts for inspiration, and one that I get a lot of inspiration from "The Creative Penn" I love listening to her podcasts when I feel in a slump. One thing that she discussed in a podcast was buiding up a list of books simular to what I am writing. I in a way, did this subconsciously. I have always loved to read and write fantasy, so I grabbed books that were close to it.
I need to reread some of these and work on reading the series, but I feel like I am building a good list. This list includes
1. The Wheel of Time Series by Robert Jordan,
For me I love the charecter developments and the seperate plot lines in this series. The world and the Isadi (magic users) in these books is a large influence on my world.
2. Game of Thrones by G. R. R. Martin
This one is definitely for the charecters and multiple plotlines
3. The Inheritance Cycle by Christopher Palolini
The elves in this series! Need more of this
4. The Court of Thorns and Roses, and A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas
The Fae in this book are a different take on my elves, I like this series (okay love) for the "higher beings" I dabble in this so I like this mindset.
I am still building this list and I am sure there are some that I missed here but some of these have multiple or a ton... *cough* Wheel of Time *cough cough* books in that series.
A lover of words, reading and writing.
