I want to talk about something a bit different this writing Wednesday. I personally am in a bit of an editing slump right now with my current WIP and this is something that has been in my mind a lot the last few weeks.
Writing is something we mainly do alone. That is why many of us find ourselves to be introverts. We plot alone, we write alone, we edit alone. Yes we have crit partners, and people we pitch ideas to, and our betas. But overall we work alone.
Writing is something you do alone. It's a profession for introverts who want to tell you a story but don't want to make eye contact while doing it.
No matter what stage of writing you are in. Be Proud. You have created another person, or species or, a world, a set of issues beyond yourself and your life. If you really break it down to the idea that you took a thought, an idea, and where able to create thousands of words on that idea, that is pretty awesome. Something beautiful. Never discount a first thought when it passes your by. Sure that initial idea maybe come obsolete by the time you are finished but, every line you think of, every plot point you plan has a purpose. It may just be character building that the readers will never see, but those detail create a more well rounded piece.
I am having a hard time now to find inspiration in my work currently because of how busy my schedule. My personal wip is falling farther and farther back on my list. But even if I don't get to write, every moment I think of something, plan a future session or just read over what I have already done, it benefits me as a writer.
A lover of words, reading and writing.
